ABOUT:

SG Laya vom Team Barrett

Laya vom Team Barrett will always be one of the best girls I have ever had.

She is the half-sister of Faya vom Team Barrett, and like Faya, she became an important part of our family and the Haus Neufus breeding program. Laya is a daughter of Tyson vom Haus Barrett and V Bella von Vierhundert Hertz, IPO1, KKL, bringing strong European bloodlines and proven quality behind her.

Laya was a beautiful female with a wonderful combination of love, loyalty and natural protective instinct. She was affectionate with the people she loved, but she also naturally understood her role as a German Shepherd. She was confident, watchful and protective without needing to be taught to be that way.

What made Laya especially unforgettable to me, however, was the bond we shared.

Some dogs simply connect with you on a different level, and Laya was one of those dogs for me. Our relationship was incredibly close, and she always seemed to understand me. That kind of connection cannot be measured by a show rating, title or pedigree — it is something you are simply lucky enough to experience with a very special dog.

Laya also proved her quality in the show ring, earning her SG rating and several excellent placements, including SG1 in the 12–18 month Long Stock Coat Female class and SG4 at the USA Sieger Show. Her hips and elbows are both a-normal.

She also became an important mother in our breeding program, producing multiple Haus Neufus litters and contributing her qualities to the generations that followed her.

Even today, we continue to receive updates from families who own Laya’s puppies. It makes us incredibly proud to hear how gorgeous they have become, but even more importantly, how stable, confident and wonderful their temperaments are. Seeing those qualities carried forward in her offspring is one of the greatest compliments a breeding female can receive.

Today, Laya is retired from our breeding program and enjoying life with her new family. Knowing that she is loved, cared for and able to enjoy this chapter of her life means a great deal to us.

Although she no longer lives at Haus Neufus, dogs like Laya never really leave you. They remain part of your memories, your breeding program and, most importantly, part of your heart.

Laya was a loving companion, a natural protector, a wonderful mother and one of the best females I have ever had. The bond we shared will always make her one of my very special girls, and seeing her qualities live on through her puppies makes her legacy even more meaningful.
