Onri came to me through a very good friend and fellow breeder. At the time, I truly wasn’t planning to add another puppy to our breeding program. But sometimes the right dog changes your plans.

The moment I saw Onri, I knew she belonged with me.

Onri is still a very young female, but so far she is showing me so many of the qualities I look for in a German Shepherd. She is confident, social, intelligent and full of personality, with a wonderful curiosity about the world around her.

She is also simply fun to have around. Onri loves other dogs and puppies and is always looking for someone—or something—to play with. She is the kind of puppy who keeps you on your toes because she is constantly thinking, exploring and finding her next source of entertainment.

At the same time, we are already seeing a different side of her on the training field. For such a young dog, Onri is showing very promising working potential. She enjoys engaging with her handler, loves learning and approaches training with confidence and enthusiasm.

What is especially exciting is that we can already see a natural protective instinct developing in her. She is still very young, but she is observant, aware of her surroundings and beginning to show the kind of natural confidence and protective character we value in a German Shepherd.

Onri has already begun making us proud in the show ring as well. At the Canadian Sieger Show, she earned VP1 and Champion Puppy in the 4–6 Month Long Coat Female class — an exciting accomplishment at such a young age and a wonderful beginning to her show career.

She is still young, and there is a long road ahead of us. We don’t know yet exactly where that road will take her, but that is part of what makes raising a promising young German Shepherd so exciting.

For now, we are enjoying watching her grow, develop and show us a little more every day.

I wasn’t looking for another puppy when Onri came into my life — but sometimes you meet a dog and simply know she is meant to stay.
